Hampton or Hilton

We are coming in Oct. 24-26 for our 25th anniversary and are planning on spending time in Galena. Everything is booked there.

Which hotel would you recommend for a romantic weekend?

Any ideas besides shopping in Galena for us to do?

Hampton or Hilton

As for the hotel, sorry I haven%26#39;t stayed in either. But as far as other things to do.

In Dubuque there is the National Missisipi River Museum, this is a nice place to spend a couple of hours, and set your own pace.

Near the museum there is the Diamond Jo Casino riverboat, if gambling is your thing. There is also river cruises that go south of dubuque along the river, this is a nice scenic ride.

Another attraction in the same area is the Stone Cliff Winery located in the Star Brewery Building. The building itself was once a Brewery of Star Beer, and now houses a great collection of brewery memorabilia. The winery is located on the back side of the building. For $5 per person, you get to taste five wines, then keep the wine glass when you are done. This is also located on the river walk area, so when you finish inside you can take a romantic walk along the missisipi river. Another winery in the area I would reccomend is the Park Farm Winery. This is located about fifteen minutes west of Dubuque, but also worth the drive. The tasting is the same, but after tasting, I would reccomend picking out your favorite bottle, buying some cheese and crackers, and going to the back deck that overlooks the vinyards. The dogs that are owned by the staff will sometimes join you on the deck and lay at your feet as you sip wine and take in the scenery.

There is also a nice winery outside of Galena.

Hope some of these things give you a starting point!
