Can anyone recommend a good hotel downtown, or a site that has a good rate. My cousin is getting married and the block is at the Holiday Inn Downtown and the rate is $95. That is a little more than we wanted to spend just to go to a wedding. The wedding is at the scottish rite consistory, so we would like to be relatively close. Thanks for your help.

There is a Quality Inn on 3rd Street (right next to Wells Fargo Arena) which may have lower rates depending on your dates of travel. The Marriott downtown would actually be closer to the wedding site. Again, depending on the weekend and deal you can get, it may be cheaper. Aside from that, you may have to leave the downtown area to get anything below the Holiday Inn price. Anything on or just off of 8th Street or Valley West Drive in West Des Moines wouldn%26#39;t be too far of a drive for you.

I agree with Redheadfun%26#39;s recommendations. The Des Moines metro area is much smaller than Kansas City%26#39;s; you can generally get anywhere in 30 mins. or less. The 8th St. area in West Des Moines that Redheadfun mentioned is perhaps a 15 min. drive from downtown.

You%26#39;ll want to read through the tripadvisor.com reviews, but the Best Western Walnut Creek Inn and Valley West Inn, both in WDM, are conveniently located along I-235 and advertise good rates sometimes.

Any hotel on Fleur Drive (which stretches between downtown and the airport) is within 10 minutes drive of Scottish Rite. There is a Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, Heartland Inn, and Holiday Inn Airport on Fleur. You can easily drive to these from I-35 south by taking Highway 5 to Fleur Drive.
