Wedding @ Lake Okoboji/ Any other Suggestions?

My sister is looking at getting married here in the next 4 to 8 months. They were thinking Vegas, however her FI doesnt want to leave her kids behind (hers from previous marriage) who are in 2nd and 3rd grade, as they don%26#39;t think Vegas is very kid friendly. So now they%26#39;re rethinking and want it to be fairly budget friendly. They%26#39;re now tossing around the idea of a beach wedding, but have thought of doing something more local. I was thinkin of possibly Lake Okoboji, as it%26#39;s going to be fairly small wedding, probably around 25 people. We%26#39;re from Waterloo and would love some suggestions...TIA

If it%26#39;s not too late now, I would suggest a wedding at Sleepy Hollow here in Des Moines, IA (near the Iowa State Fairgrounds and close to Pleasant Hill, IA).

They have a beautiful, huge clubhouse and offer go-kart racing, mini-golf, batting cages, driving (golf) range plus so much more for all ages!

My daughter had her wedding reception there and everyone (kids and adults alike) had a blast.

Best wishes!

Okoboji would be fun, too. My parents got married there a long time ago! There are several churches in Spirit Lake, and lots of nice places to stay in the area. Crescent Beach Resort, Vacation Village, ... lots more.

If it is in summer, Arnold%26#39;s Park is open for a fun thing to do. There is even a beach there, and lots of other beaches around Okoboji.

There%26#39;s also the Botanical Center or Art Center in Des Moines or Reiman Gardens in Ames.
