We are planning on coming to Amana Colonies for a weekend away from the kids soon and want to stay at a place where we can walk to shops etc. Guest House in Amana sounds like the location we want, but Zubers in Homestead sounds more like the type of place we are looking for. Is there much stuff to do if we want to walk around in Homstead if we stay at Zubers? Or, would we be better to stay at Guest House in Amana? Since we%26#39;ll have to drive to the other colonies anyway, maybe Zubers would be better.....Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
Zubers in Homestead, or Guest House in Amana?
All of the Amana villages are small, but ';Main'; Amana is where most of the shops, restaurants, playhouse, etc. are located. All would be within walking distance of anywhere you would stay in the village.
Homestead is tiny, with perhaps 20 homes or so and Zubers is probably the only significant draw there for tourists. Zubers has a restaurant and some very nice sports paraphenalia to browse, but there isn%26#39;t a lot else there.
I don%26#39;t think you can go wrong staying in either location and the drives between them are short, so it just depends on whether the lodging or the ability to walk to shops and restaurants is the higher priority for you.
