Bridges Bay Resort

Has anyone visted or stayed at the Bridges Bay Resort? We are coming out for the 4th of July (isn%26#39;t eveyone?) and we are looking for a nice place to stay... doesn%26#39;t have to be on the lake. Even though we are from California, we have relatives that live there and friends with homes on the lake, so we just need a really nice place to be... my mother is very finicky!!! this is my kids first trip to the mid-west for a ';real'; 4th of July and I%26#39;d like it to be special for them too.

We are two grandparents, 2 adults and two teens... any recommendations would be great! Of course, we%26#39;d LOVE to rent a home on the lake but there don%26#39;t seem to be any available... any insider tips? Thanks a bunch for any help!

This reply is probably too late for you, but check out www.bridgesbayresort. com

I don%26#39;t know anyone who has stayed there as this is the first season it%26#39;s open.

You%26#39;d be hard-pressed to find any home on /near any one of the Iowa Great Lakes(West Lake Okoboji, East Lake Okoboji, Big Spirit and Little Spirit Lakes, Upper and Lower Gar Lakes, Lake Minnewashta) for rent unless you search a year ahead.

You may also want to check out The Inn at Okoboji on West Lake at(www.bojifun.com) and www.arrowwood-okoboji.com a resort off the Lake.

The fireworks over West Lake in Smith%26#39;s Bay is awesome! Enjoy your vacation!

Bridges Bay Resort

Just curious. Did you stay at Bridges Bay? We have reservations, but I am a little nervous about staying there since I have seen no reviews, positive or negative.

My family and I stayed at the Bridges Bay Resort and I have to say the experience was less than desirable. When we entered the room, it was still dirty from the previous occupants. There was dust and smears on the tables and the counters. Also, out dishes were in the Dishwasher unbeknown to us. If you are interested in grilling like we were, check to see that the grills are not out of gas, plus reserve the shelter early else be left out. Finally, dealing with the Desk staff was like dealing with the cast of some teen drama. They all look 18 or 19, but this is typical throughout Okoboji Lakes.

My recommendation is that this place needs a more inspired managment and I would not suggest anyone stay here unless they were a young family, considering the indoor water park which is for younger children.

Really disappointed to hear about the negative stay. Although I haven%26#39;t stayed in a room there because we live really close, we did go up to the indoor waterpark a day this winter and my kids, ages 7 %26amp; 5 had a GREAT time! I even enjoyed the waterslides myself, although there are only a couple indoor for adults and a ton of kids areas. Older kids might get a bit bored more quickly, but it%26#39;s great! Nice large hot tub for adults and I felt comfortable letting my kids play in the littler kids play area as they can stand in that entire area.

I thought it was great and if you%26#39;re visiting in the winter, there%26#39;s very limited on things to do in the lakes region, so this would be a nice stop. In the summer, I would definately combine it with some lake activities.
