Dinner Ideas for Coralville/Iowa City

I%26#39;m looking for dinner ideas for the Coralville/Iowa City area. Travel isn%26#39;t a problem. Anything from sandwiches to pizza to a filet would be fine as we%26#39;ll be entertaining our college student at Iowa. All ideas welcome!

If you like Italian food The Brown Bottle, next to the university and old capital mall, is good. Iowa River Power on 1st Ave. in Coralville is also nice. A litle more spendy, steaks, seafood. Hope this helps.

Dinner Ideas for Coralville/Iowa City

Hi. It may be a bit wierd getting tips from someone in Scotland but we visit every year and never miss getting and dinner at the Colony Inn in Armana (someone will have to roll you out the door!) and lunch in the Bread Garden in Iowa City, healthy fresh thick sandwiches and the best home made soup outside of Scotland! Next visit in October and about to make my reservations at the Colony!

sorry the above meant to have read breakfast and dinner..... oooops

Used to live there, but moved a couple years ago.

Iowa River Power Company (as suggested above) for steaks. It is on the main drag at coralville. Sushi is good (for the midwest) at Three Samurai in Coralville.

Linn street cafe often gets raves, but I have found it pretty disappointing the few times I have been there.

Airliner downtown IC for pizza (get the deep dish).

Hamburg No. 2 for Breakfast (Gosh I miss the Iowa Omelet). I ask places here to put my hashbrowns INSIDE the omelet and they look at me like i am crazy :(

I grew up in IC and lived there til 5 years ago. I love eating out. Some (or most) of my favorites (not in any particular order): Linn Street Cafe, Brown Bottle, Iowa River Power Company, The Sanctuary, Wig and Pen (best pizza!), Mondo%26#39;s in Coralville, The Mill, Atlas World Grill, the Amanas for German (Colony Inn on I-80 west of IC or Ox Yoke Inn in main Amana a bit north of that, Mekong for Vietnamese, The Airliner, The Bread Garden, The Cottage, Hamburg Inn (hard to get a seat on busy days), House of Lords (yum! used to have the BEST service and awesome food but not sure about these days), Mickey%26#39;s, The Vine, The Sports Column, the Parthenon for Greek, Givanni%26#39;s for elegant Italian, El Ranchero, Cancun, Lou Henri%26#39;s (unique yummy breakfasts), Midtown Family Restaurant (small-town diner-esque), Gringo%26#39;s, La Casa, Sluggers, Yen Ching, Sushi Popo, Three Samurai (elegant Japanese), and was it Hungry Hobo sub shop on Riverside across from the DQ that was destroyed by the tornado? Some of these may have gone by the wayside by now... I miss them all!

The River City Beefstro is by far the best restaurant in Coralville. They have fantastic steaks, ribs, pasta and burgers. I stay there once a week and have never had anything but a freat experience. They are located next to the Holiday Inn and Hampton in on 1st ave in Coralville.

We%26#39;ve had very good meals about 10 minutes west at the Seven Villages at the Amana Holiday Inn just off of I 80. Nice staff. Good food.

Redhead in Solon is pretty awesome... The ambiance leaves something to be desired, but, the food is fan freaking tastic!
