Good Day,

We will be traveling on Christmas Day and I was wondering if anyone knows where we%26#39;ll be able to get a meal that nite?

Anything will do even fast food.

Will any place be open on Christmas Day for supper?

The Des Moines Register%26#39;s Datebook entertainment guide published a story the other day that listed restaurants open on Christmas Day. Here%26#39;s a link:

Looking at the list, Prairie Meadows (a casino) is probably the closest off of I 80 if that%26#39;s your route. It%26#39;s located just east of Des Moines in the town of Altoona.

Two other spots that are not as close to the interstate are:

- IHOP on Douglas (exit Merle Hay Rd. from I 80/35 on the north side of Des Moines, turn south then west at the intersection of Merle Hay and Douglas).

- Iowa Castle on 86th St. is a local fast food place that just opened recently. To reach it from I 80/35 on the north side of Des Moines, exit on 86th St. and drive south for approx. 2 - 3 miles.

Otherwise, there are several large truck stops along I 80/35 that will probably be open. One is east of Des Moines at Altoona and another is on the NW side of Des Moines in Urbandale at the Douglas Ave. exit.
