oktoberfest

Has anyone been to Oktoberfest in Amana Colonies? Is there food venders (booths). Is food offered in the festbarn. Any other info is appreciated.

It%26#39;s been a few years since we have been to the Amana Octoberfest but I don%26#39;t recall many food venders set up around town. They have entertainment (admission charged) and serve food hall at the festhall. We always enjoyed walking the street with all the shops then ending up at the Millstream Brewery for brats from the local meat shop, beer from the brewery and entertainment. It%26#39;s not large scale entertainment like the festhall. Most times it was a fellow playing an accordian but nice none the less. They have outdoor seating set up and it was free too.

My wife and I have attended every year for the last 15 years or more. It is an annual weekend getaway for us and now we even have my sister and her husband going with us. The beer flows readily from the local brewery, named Millstream, which produces a special brew named Oktoberfest for the season. Food is good and plentiful at the restaurants in town and is served family style. During Oktoberfest food is also available at the Festhalle which is where the main focus of entertainment lies, at the brewery, and outside of some of the main restaurants. We have made many friends in Amana and really look forward to seeing them all. Needless, to say, we%26#39;ll be coming again in 2007.
