Hi all

i am driving from Chicago to be in Kansas city on new years day.

me and a freind are looking for someware to bring the new year in, we are both 23.

i stoped for a meal in iowa city in september and it seemed full of life, many students i asume? many of which i am guessing may not be there? if any body could recomend a good place to party en route or not too far off that would be brill!

Hello, liquid! My own party days are well behind me, so I don%26#39;t have a specific club to recommend. However, I lived in Iowa City for many years and there is still a lot of activity there even when the students are on break. The Riverside Casino about 20 minutes south of Iowa City will certainly have entertainment on New Year%26#39;s Eve and there will be clubs open in downtown Iowa City.

Another option would be to find a club in the Des Moines area. One that seems to have good bands is House of Bricks. Other options would be in the Court Ave. area of downtown Des Moines.

Kansas City has a lot of bars/ clubs in case the weather changes your plans and you have to go down there earlier. Eventhough the U of I will be on break from classes, a lot of people come back to party in downtown Iowa City. I know a lot of the bars will be open and will have specials for the holiday.

Another thing- the Iowa Caucus is on Jan 3rd this year- and the dorms will be open so many students will be back to participate in the caucus. Although finding a hotel room might be a little difficult with all the media and campaign workers in the state around that time.
